Prayer Requests

Please pray for this specific needs from scholars, graduated scholars, staff, board members, and supporters of John Stott Ministries and Langham Partnership International.

September 2010

Thank you for your prayers for the work of Langham Preaching around the world. Here are a few items for this week.

Bolivia: from this Wednesday, September 8, a new level 1 programme begins for pastors and lay preachers from the Yungas zone, in the department of La Paz, Bolivia.  Igor writes: ‘A few months ago there were serious conflicts between the government and the country people in Los Yungas, which resulted in clashes and some deaths. We now have the opportunity to minister to pastors and leaders in this region. It is also characterised by the cultivation of coca leaf, coffee, tea and citrous fruits.’  Please pray for Jorge del Castillo, a pastor in La Paz, who is responsible for the organisation of this event, for Igor who is facilitating, and for the Lord's guidance in ministering his Word to these leaders in a region with many pastoral challenges.

Romania: this week the level 2 seminar will be held in Sibiu, September 7-11, attracting some 100 pastors and preachers to work on the theme of preaching from the Old Testament. Please pray for Corneliu Constantineanu and the local coordinating team, and for Chris Wright and Mike McGowan who are the facilitators.

Trinidad & Tobago: this coming Thursday the country coordinating team meets to discuss the preaching movement in T&T and to plan for the next level of training. Please pray for a fruitful meeting, and for the ongoing work on the island.

Democratic Republic of Congo: we have just heard from country coordinator Muhindo Isesomo, who writes: ‘I am now back home from the long trip which began on July 12th. We thank God because of his protection. The two seminars went very well. In Bunia there were 45 participants, 10 from North-Kivu diocese, 15 from the Anglican Theological College, 5 from the Baptist church, and 15 from Boga diocese. In Aru there were 31 people, including 11 from the Bible Institute. The facilitator was Mike McGowan, assisted by Revd Sadiki and myself.’  Give thanks for the growing LP work across the DRC, and pray for the preachers clubs which continue to meet despite the many pressures on the pastors who participate.

Thank you for your prayers.
